The Incredible Impact of Self Reflection
By Nancy Werteen and Kim Howie
The Power of Joy
The Power Of A Pivot
Lots of people in the know said writing a book is like birthing a baby. I didn’t get it. But after more than 9 months of writing, weeks and weeks of playing hide and seek with typos and more weeks and weeks of unpredictable changes and growing pains, I admit more than once, I screamed, “Give me that f@*&ing epidural!!”
So yes, our “baby” is born and just like a real baby, my life will be forever changed. Crazy right? Here's why. During this journey, Kim and I went through a process of self-reflection. It's part of what we think is necessary to dig in to what's really going on in our heads and hearts. Many times I would find myself brushing my teeth and suddenly compelled to start banging away on the computer. I'd race into my office with my toothbrush still in my mouth-such was the compulsion. I'd write and write, lean back, notice the tooth brush and be equally shocked by some of the things I had written. I began to realize I wasn't really writing the book, it was writing itself and I was kind of a bystander.
And then suddenly, it was done. I didn't wake up in the night anymore and head to the computer. I finished brushing my teeth without incident. To be honest, I think I really needed to go through this process. I really needed to give myself the time and the space for it.
Our book is a road map for you to do the same and I hope you do. I find life speeds by me and it was so cathartic to slow it all down for just a little while-to pivot in a different direction and turn to a new path.
The Power of Why
The WC Wisdom Symbol
The Wisdom Symbol represents the foundational messages at the heart of The Wisdom Coalition. These messages are:
- WE control our core energy
- Choosing joy impacts our thoughts, actions and emotions
- Staying connected to our WHY (Y) enables us to find, fuel and feel more joy
- Focusing on joy enables us to live our lives from the inside out
The Wisdom Symbol is representative of the mind, body spirit connection. As we build our joy muscle and actively seek joy by focusing on positive aspects in life, we are fueling our core energy which then impacts our thoughts (mind), our actions (body) and our emotions (spirit.)
